Slam: Ashes and Drinks

13 06 2013

Hey what’s up everyone? I’m back again this month. My last post was on the first day of E3, which seemed to receive good feedback. Because a lot is going on, I’ll wait till the event is over to give my post E3 input.

Today marks the 13th day of June and we’re in the middle of SLAM (Support Local Artist Month). An idea started by my friend, Shawn Strong, the month should be used to support those around your area that have artistic talents. Today, I want to highlight two people who have artistic talent as well as use their abilities to help promote others around them in their area. They are the founders of AshesandDrinks.com, John “Jayles” Gonzalez and Jason “Skells” Guitano.

Their latest mixtape, "Timeless," came out last month.

Their latest mixtape, “Timeless,” came out last month.

Created by the two, AshesandDrinks.com is an outlet for hiphop artists living in the Hudson Valley area. Because most people look to the city for hiphop talent, those that live upstate have a harder time getting heard. While both “Jayles” and “Skells” are hiphop artists themselves, they decided to create a website to give themselves and others around them a place to showcase their talents and get heard. For four years and counting, ashesanddrinks.com has a strong following and has given exposure to a great number of music artists living in the Hudson Valley.

Their latest mixtape

If you click on the link above, it’ll take you to their latest mixtape, “Timeless.” I just listened to it an hour ago and I can guarantee that it’s worth the listen. So take this time to support Ashes and Drinks and support your local artist.
