2017 Weekly Roundup 1: E Joox Music Video and Chasaity Colon

26 02 2017

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome back to my blog. Today marks the first of what I hope will be a weekly roundup series. Each week, I will keep everyone up to date about what’s going on around me and the people I know who are trying to make their way in their respective craft. Today will only cover two things but it will be more expansive.

E Joox

Though I have hardly covered him, E Joox has been steadily moving along in the music world. Recently, he has linked up with Hailz Calmlee and Rudy Rush of offdabloc records to make the music video for the single, “Off Da Bloc.” With almost two months into the year, E Joox is already collaborating with other artists and we’ll definitely more material come from him as the year progresses.

Chasaity Colon (Couture Modeling Agency)

And in the modeling world, there are some who are moving up in the world. Chasaity Colon has been featured in my photography posts on a few occasions so everyone should be familiar with her. Lately, she has been featured in ads for Against All Odds and this past week, they unveiled new photos including the one above. So if you walk into any AAO Clothing stores, I guarantee you’ll see her face along the walls. Congratulations Chasaity!

And lastly for today, there’s me. This past week has been slow as I only worked on an overnighter and spent the rest of my time trying to keep myself in shape. But overall, this has been a fairly good week for me and everyone else. So stay tuned for next weekend as things will get more interesting as the year goes along.

SXSW Film Festival, Neither Shadow of Turning, and more Couture Modeling Pics

8 02 2015

Hey everyone. Welcome to another installment of my blog. With February underway, we have some projects starting up as well as some films soon starting to get exposure.

SXSW Festival will be from March 13th to the 22nd.

SXSW Festival will be from March 13th to the 22nd.

With the Sundance Film Festival ending last week, we now turn our attention to the next big event. The SXSW Festival will be held in March from the the 13th to the 22nd. To give a short summary, the SXSW festival incorporates a combination of film, music, and technology that are showcased throughout the event. This year is special for some of us as projects we worked on are going to be shown.

Eden Brolin in "I Dream Too Much."

One of the films that will show at the SXSW Festival is one that I was fortunate to work on. “I Dream Too Much” stars Eden Brolin, Danielle Brooks (OITNB), and Diane Ladd. Eden stars as Dora, a young college student who’s stuck at home studying for the LSAT while her friends are traveling around the world. When her aunt injures herself, Dora travels to her estate to help her as she recovers. While tending to her aunt, the imaginative girl discovers her aunt’s hidden romantic past, prompting Dora to dream that their revelation will pull Aunt Vera and herself from their mutual depressions. A lot of people from the hudson valley helped put this film together so having it show at the SXSW Festival is a major accomplishment.

Neither Shadow of Turning.

And while on the subject of film, another potential project is underway. Directed by Adrian Centoni and Justin Derry, “Neither Shadow of Turning” focuses on a religious couple isolated in the woods. When the wife falls ill to ammonia, their faith becomes tested as they rely on prayer to heal her. The above video is a test shoot for one of the scenes, but if you go to the link posted below, there’s another video where both directors go into more detail about the film and what you can do to help put the project all together.

This was shot in Beacon. I wanted a completely different look for shooting Stefanie and a change of venue achieved that.

And before I go, I have a couple new photos I’ve taken. In the above photo, I shot Stefanie at a spot nearby the Beacon Train Station. Along with getting the Newburgh-Beacon bridge in the background, I also managed to get this shot off with the sun slowly setting. One fun fact about this photo: getting to this spot involved me having to carry Stefanie on my back as there was a long distance of deep snow to walk through. Luckily, I had my snow boots with me because otherwise, I wouldn’t have this shot.

The last shot was taken at the underpass outside the studio. Because the sun can never hit the area, I had someone handle a huge bounce board to light up the wall behind Angiee. My original idea involved getting the shadow of the fence into the shot, but it wasn’t possible due to the layout of the area. But the shot came out well otherwise.

Good morning this Sunday. Today is another edition of my blog.

We’re now on the tail end of January. For most of us, January tends to be a brutal month as work is usually scarce so it’s a sigh of relief to see it come to an end. As we turn to February, we see a few productions start up and are in need of crew. Recently, Greg Meola just released a commercial for Company 1 in the event that productions are looking for camera and lighting support.

Detailing everything in his arsenal of equipment, Company 1 is the place to go to if you need lighting equipment and/or camera support for any project. And with the spring season coming around the corner, it’s wise to contact Company 1 sooner rather than later.

First Post of 2015: Part 1 of the Stefanie Perry Transformation

16 01 2015

Hey what’s up everyone? The first edition of my blog for 2015 is officially here and what better way to kick things than with a new video for Couture Modeling!

Video Still. Kristin performing her magic on Stefani.

We managed to shoot everything earlier in the week. Kristin came up with a great idea for a look and we were fortunate to have Stefani Perry be available to be the model featured. Due to time constraints for some, getting everything that we needed was a tough task. We ran out of daylight for one shot I wanted to do and I didn’t have enough time to switch equipment for another shot. Fortunately, we worked with what we had and I’m happy with how it came out.

For this video, the footage used were the ones shot on the shoulder rig. I mostly shot with the 50mm lens and switched to the 24mm lens on a couple occasions. For post production, I did some color correction and tweaked exposure settings for some shots. Because I only used available lighting, I experimented with the grain removal tool to help reduce noise. While it was very handy, it was causing the program to crash so I ended up only using it on a few clips instead of the whole video.

So thanks to everyone who helped out and I hope you like it. Be sure to check out the links below and keep an lookout for part 2 later down the road as I’ll showcase the photos taken after the shoot!

Fall Modeling and Fall Fashion: The Post before Thanksgiving

25 11 2014

Welcome to another post by yours truly.  At this time, we’re getting near the end of the month, which means it won’t be long until we’re all stuffing our mouths with turkey, stuffing, and all the other treats of Thanksgiving. With some time left before the holiday, I figured I would get one more post in before Turkey Day. Over the past weekend, Couture Modeling performed a handful of shoots ranging from the studio to New York City.

On Saturday, it was a fairly crazy day as shoots were held in and around the studio. With a handful of models showing off different fashion looks, it was an accomplishment to get so much done within a short period of time. In the above photo, taken by Lendell Simmons, one of the outfits by Juda Leah atelier & boutique is worn by Perpetua Smith. Based in Saugerties and now open in NYC, the store showcases a wide variety of handmade jewelry, arts, gift, and clothing such as the one in the photo.

On Sunday, the agency traveled to the city to shoot in the midtown area. Mostly near times square and at Bryant Park, the weather was ideal for the photos that were taken. In the above photo, Alyssa is in Bryant Park as the sun gives an nice edge on her face and hair.  If you want to see more photos, check out the Couture Modeling website as well as the facebook page.

New Couture Modeling Video and BTS footage of “Back in Time”

14 11 2014

What’s up everyone? We’re now approaching the midway point of the month. At this stage of the year, productions slowly began to shut it down as the holidays are right around the corner. But not to fear as I have some great news to share.

Nearly a month ago, I shot bts footage for Couture Modeling as a photoshoot was held in NYC. Shooting around Central Park and Times Square, Daniela Velez and Kaela Garrett showcased a variety of outfits for the fall season. Due to the busy schedule I had afterwards, I wasn’t able to finish it till this week.

Though it’s short, I’m happy with how it came out. Special thanks to The Beat God for providing me with the music. In case you’re wondering, it’s from the song, “Like Me,” by D3V featuring The Beat God.

If you grew up during the mid 80’s to early 90’s, you’ll remember the Back to the Future films that were very popular during that time frame. If you’re itching to know more about the franchise, Jay Aron is currently putting together an documentary on the series and the impact it has put on society even to this day. Shot by Ari Schaeffer, the above video is a behind the scenes look into production as they prepare to interview Christopher Lloyd (although it’s mostly Jay struggling to put together a stand). So to be sure to check out the facebook page to get future updates on the progress of the documentary and when it will be released.

Post NYC Marathon: What happened during the hiatus

9 11 2014

What’s up everyone? Welcome to the post NYC Marathon edition of my blog. Yes, it has been nearly a month since my last post due to the NYC Marathon.

361453_1280x720
In the weeks leading to the city’s biggest event, I was doing various tasks that involved working with different departments of the New York Road Runners. Initially, I was responsible for sorting timing equipment for each checkpoint of the marathon. Later on, I would be assisting the transportation department in moving cargo and people throughout different locations in Manhattan and Staten Island. On the day of the marathon, I was stationed at Mile 26. After setting up timing equipment, I kept an eye on the system as I helped cheer on over 50,000 runners  finish the last 300 meters of the race.

As part of a partnership with the NBA, basketball legends such as Dikembe Mutombo ran as a 24-man relay team over the course of the marathon.

It was a overall great experience to once again be a part of. Watching thousands of people run by you as they get within arms reach of the finish line is something you just have to applaud.  And now that we’re a week away from the race, let’s look at other things that have during my hiatus.

holidaysburg

While I was bobbing and weaving through the hectic traffic of New York City, the film, “Hollidaysburg,” was released on iTunes. Starring Rachel Keller and Tobin Mitnick, the story centers around five friends who return home for thanksgiving after their first semester of college and discover how things have changed or not changed since high school. Directed by Anna Martemucci, the crew consisted of Meena Singh (DP), Chad Dougherty, Stratton Bailey, and a collection of talented individuals. For $9.99, you can download it off of iTunes and based on the reviews, it’s worth the purchase!

Emily is now an official member of the Cirque Du Soleil.

And another set of good news during my hiatus occurred for one of our favorites here in the Hudson Valley. If you’ve been on set with her, you will eventually see her pull off the feat of balancing a ladder on her chin, juggling multiple bowling pins, and doing a multitude of crazy things. That along with the many talents she possess has earned Emily Carragher a spot with the Cirque Du Soleil. Congratulations and good luck, Emily!
