The ever beautiful sight of NYC.

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome to my first blog post of 2017. The time period between my last post and now has consisted of nothing but work with little free time. With the way this year has started off, I expect the trend to continue as I continue on my journey in the film and TV world.

Because of how my schedule is, I will aim to make my blog more of a weekly recap with what’s going on around me and friends that are trying to make their way in the world as well. Along with that, assuming things go as planned, I will try to bring back the photography session series as I’m aiming to get a new camera along with some lighting equipment. So plan on seeing me post on a consistent basis this year.

There’s so much that happened during my hiatus but I can showcase one thing. Earlier last year, I helped my friend, Shawn Strong, with a web series he was shooting. It premiered in December but I’ve recently got a chance to watch the first episode and it’s worth looking at. It’s called “At Risk” and it follows a group of caseworkers as they deal with their clients as well as their own personal issues.

First Post of April 2016

It’s been a great and busy start to the year.

Welcome to the second installment of my blog for 2016. That’s right everyone: it’s been that busy kind of a year for me where I haven’t had time to do much else. But with pilot season nearly coming upon us, it’s now more time spared for writing about what’s happening around me.

From a earlier shoot. Working with 10k lights.

Between my first post of the year to now, a majority of the work I’ve done has been on union shoots as an applicant. So far, it’s been a fun journey. Getting to work with large lights and going up high in a aerial lift for a film/tv show is not something many people can say they do for a living. Before I applied for the union, I heard mixed opinions about it. Some were very positive about while some were against it because of past experiences. So at first, I was of course nervous and over cautious but as time went on, I got more comfortable and my experience working on union shoots has been positive. The learning process and understanding how everything and everyone operates has been something that will stay with me. Grasping this along with trying to erase my bad habits has still been a work in progress but I’ve been improving greatly compared to when I first started.

And before I go, here’s a trailer for one of the shows I’ve worked on. “Luke Cage” is set to premiere on September 30th on Netflix.

First Post of 2016: New Doppelgangaz and more

31 01 2016

Welcome to my first post of 2016. Suprisingly, I’ve started this year off on a decent note. Near the end of 2015, I became a local 52 applicant and was given a ton of opportunities to work on big TV shows and work alongside people who have a great deal of experience. This year has started off well as I’m still getting calls for work at a time where it’s usually slow. So with the little amount of free time I have, I can go over what has happen this past week.

This past week, the Doppelgangaz made updates to their upcoming tour schedule. Although they’ll be overseas for the month of February, they’re currently working on getting shows in the US. As of now, they’re booked for a show in Salt Lake City in the month of April. So be sure to follow the group on their social media pages for future updates.

And if you haven’t already, you can view the video to their latest single, “Gangaz 4 Life.” It’s off of their album, “Beats for Brothels Vol. 3,” which can be downloaded off of iTunes.

Because of how my schedule has been, I haven’t taken any new pictures. So I’ve been editing old ones to avoid being rusty. The above photo was taken last June just outside of the studio. I originally uploaded this photo to my instagram page earlier in the week but decided to put it on here as well. Later in the year, I plan on getting my own set of lights and will look to continue the photography session blog posts.

Photography Session with Maria Manrique and New Album coming by D.O.C.

7 05 2015

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome to another edition of my blog. Today, I will showcase another addition to the photography session as well as showcase new music by D.O.C.

maria3In this edition of the photography session, I shot this photo in mid April with Maria. Like the previous picture with Jenna, I wanted to make interesting results with tweaking the coloring. So while editing, I searched on youtube and came across a tutorial on the “Nashville” color effect that’s usually seen on instagram. The steps they showed were easy to follow and by the time I finished, I ended up with the photo you see right now. In case you were wondering, the tutorial I watched is by Retutpro.

Album will come out on 5/22.

Album will come out on 5/22.

And in the music world, D.O.C. is currently prepping his next album, “Matter of Time,” for a 5/22 release. If you check out his soundcloud page (I’ll post the link below), you can expect the album to be as good as the music on his page. In the above video, D.O.C. is creating another beat in his lab and also does a little bit of freestyling. So mark your calenders and keep an eye out for when his album is released.

First Photography Session of 2015: Benny and Zaida

20 01 2015

Hey what’s up everyone? Another edition of my blog is upon us and it’s more of Couture Modeling. The last post was a hit as it accumulated over 100 views the day it was posted then 60+ the day after. So thanks to everyone who took time to read and watch the video and to those who shared my post amongst their friends. A lot of hard work went into the making of the video and judging by the response, it was well worth it.

Today is the first photography session of 2015 and it features a couple models.

Had a handful of good photos when shooting Ben. It was a tough decision when I chose this one.

Had a handful of good photos when shooting Ben. It was a tough decision when I chose this one.

This past Saturday, I shot a couple of models outside the studio. Being that it was a busy day and everyone was occupied, it was just me, a reflector, and a stand on this adventure. When shooting Ben, the reflector came in handy for the location. It had a gold/silver side that helped bring out his skintone. And while the sun was setting, it provided a nice edge lighting.

With the sun setting, it provided me with great visuals when shooting Zaida.

When shooting Zaida, the sun was setting even more. While it helped me be more creative, it also gave me less time to work with. I first shot Zaida by one of the buildings and was about to go back inside. I asked Zaida if she had any ideas she wanted to try and just as I said that, I was thinking of shooting at the railing. Fortunately, Zaida was thinking the same thing and we got some great shots in before it got dark. For this one, I was again used the silver/gold side of the reflector for fill and sun provided a subtle edge light.

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome to the first blog of October! What a way to end September for me as I worked on a great short film and ended the last week of the month by working the Bronx 10 mile race. This month is off to a potentially good start as I’ve been contacted by a few production companies about working on their upcoming projects. So while I’m keeping my fingers crossed, here’s a few other things that have been happening as of late.

Photography Session: Dylan and BTS at Couture Modeling

4 09 2014

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome to the first September 2014 edition of my blog. And what way to start off the month with another installment of my photography series. I had the opportunity of shooting a few of the models of Couture Modeling as well as taking behind the scenes photos at the studio during this past month. But today, I’m only going to showcase two of the many photos.

Model: Dylan Jones

Model: Dylan Jones

I shot this photo earlier last month. When scouting locations to shoot Dylan, I stumbled upon an bench that was right by a tree. While Dylan was shooting his session with another photographer, I repositioned the bench and was coming up with ideas for poses and camera angles. During my shoot, I had him mostly sitting on the bench and utilized only a softbox for a key light. With that day being overcast, I didn’t have to worry at all about the sun. Camera wise, I shot Dylan entirely on the 50mm lens with the aperture at f/6.3, ISO at 100, and the shutter speed at 1/125.

I also shot a good share of BTS photos. I took some photos of models getting their makeup and hair done as well as the HMU artist herself. For this photo, the light from her table lit up her neck fairly well and it was a good shot to get of her tattoo. For this, I had aperture at f/1.8, ISO at 500, and shutter speed at 1/200.

If you check out the links, you’ll see more of the models of Couture Modeling as well as see more of Kristin’s work. So that’s it for now. Check back over the weekend as I look to show more of the people working behind the scenes. Until then, cya!
