2017 Weekly Roundup 1: E Joox Music Video and Chasaity Colon

26 02 2017

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome back to my blog. Today marks the first of what I hope will be a weekly roundup series. Each week, I will keep everyone up to date about what’s going on around me and the people I know who are trying to make their way in their respective craft. Today will only cover two things but it will be more expansive.

E Joox

Though I have hardly covered him, E Joox has been steadily moving along in the music world. Recently, he has linked up with Hailz Calmlee and Rudy Rush of offdabloc records to make the music video for the single, “Off Da Bloc.” With almost two months into the year, E Joox is already collaborating with other artists and we’ll definitely more material come from him as the year progresses.

Chasaity Colon (Couture Modeling Agency)

And in the modeling world, there are some who are moving up in the world. Chasaity Colon has been featured in my photography posts on a few occasions so everyone should be familiar with her. Lately, she has been featured in ads for Against All Odds and this past week, they unveiled new photos including the one above. So if you walk into any AAO Clothing stores, I guarantee you’ll see her face along the walls. Congratulations Chasaity!

And lastly for today, there’s me. This past week has been slow as I only worked on an overnighter and spent the rest of my time trying to keep myself in shape. But overall, this has been a fairly good week for me and everyone else. So stay tuned for next weekend as things will get more interesting as the year goes along.

The end of June: Doppelgangaz, new picture of Chasaity Colon, and a upcoming workshop

29 06 2015

Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome to another installment of my blog. As of late, this month has been a fairly busy one for me. However, I have time today to make this post just as the end of June is upon us.

The Doppelgangaz

The Doppelgangaz

I haven’t spent much time talking about what’s been happening in the music world due to my busy schedule and I’m happy that I have time to do so today. Earlier in the month, The Doppelgangaz released their digital album, “Parts Unknown.” If you go on their website, you’ll be able to download it for free. While this go around only features eight tracks, it’s quality music that’s enough to hold you til their next album release.

And recently, they uploaded the music video to their single, “Rox Wid Her.”

In the last bit of news, here’s another photo I shot and edited of model Chasaity Colon. I shot this earlier in the month and was able to find time to edit it over the weekend. And before I go, I want to make one very last note.

1559760_10153959359499202_7575043255117221762_nOn July 11th, we’re holding a workshop at the studio for those who want to update their portfolios. If interested, all the information is in the above picture and we still have some spots available. Can’t wait to see you there!

New Video for Couture Modeling

11 08 2014

Hey what’s up? Welcome to another installment of my blog. If you’ve been following, you know that I’ve been working on a video for Couture Modeling. Today, I have great news as the video has now been released to youtube!

Shot at one of the beaches near nyc, I recorded behind the scenes footage of the photo shoot taking place. Going off what I read online along with advice given to me by a few cinematographers, I made some tweaks with the camera before shooting. I turned sharpness and contrast completely off and slightly turned down the saturation. Doing that along with having almost two hours worth of footage, I had plenty to work with when it came to post production phase.

This is a unedited video still of Dana.

When putting the video together, I originally had it at around 2 minutes. But after viewing it a few times, I felt 2 minutes may be bit long and viewers would get bored with it after a while. So I cut it down to less than a minute and also had to make hard choices about which clips to use. Once I got over that hurdle, I then went into the tweaking phase.

Because I set the color temperature the way I wanted it before shooting, color correction wasn’t too much. I slightly bumped up the saturation and didn’t really touch anything else. Depending on each clip, I made different tweaks to contrast. For sharpness, I used the unsharp mask. I watched a few videos on youtube for reference points on the settings and worked my way from there.  As you see from the two photos above, the before and after is very telling.

What a view!

What a view!

This is the first video where I did more than just put clips together. I’m happy with amount of work I put into this video. I was fortunate that The Doppelgangaz gave me permission to use one of their tracks for music. So I thank them along with thanking Lendell Simmons and models of Couture Modeling for bringing me along and letting me shoot the footage used.

Photography Session: Chasaity Colon

28 06 2014

Hey everyone! Welcome to another installment of my blog. In case you missed it, my last post was the 100th post I made since this blog was created. So as I embark on my quest to make it to the 200 mark, I’m making my 101st post a photography session post. My post on the Roc Yur Role Fashion Event was a hit as I gained the most views ever within a two day stretch. So thanks to everyone who took time to read that post and I will post the rest of the pics from that event on my tumblr page later in the week.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity of assisting with a photoshoot held by Lendell Simmons, who runs the Couture Modeling Agency (He was the one who arranged the “Roc Yur Role” Fashion Event. Taking place at Algonquin Park in Newburgh, NY, he took shots of his model, Chasaity Colon, at various locations. Although I assisted with blocking the sun from her face on some shots, Lendell was willing to give me a chance to take photos after he was done.

Was able to get this off just before a couple people got into frame in the background.

Using the studiomax light was a first for me. Unlike using the speedlite, the flash of the studiomax was just ideal for what we were doing. It provided a nice fill from my perspective and it wasn’t overbearing. For my camera, I had the aperture at f/9 and the ISO at 100. For shutter speed, I went to 1/125 instead of the 1/250 that I’m accustomed to. I was worried at first about the possibility of blurriness, but with the exception of a couple photos, everything came out stellar.

Tweaks were at a minimum during post production.

During the post production phase, there was only a slight tweak in color correction. I put the color temperature at 6000k and slightly bump up the vibrance to help give her skin a little more pop. A few more tweaks here and there in contrast and fill light, and voila! I’m happy with the results and I hope you are as well.
