Persephone: A Short Film by Laurent Retjo

16 08 2011

What’s up everyone! How’s everyone summer going so far? I know mine is going pretty well.  I know some of you are wondering about part 2 of the Mother’s House video. At this point, I found some time to work on it and I should have a rough cut done sometime this week.  But other than that, I want to talk a little bit about what I worked during the past week.

For most of last week, I worked on the short film, “Persephone.” It is directed by my friend, Laurent Retjo, and it stars Melissa Leo, Gilles Malkine, Richard Rogers,  and Lindsay Andretta. The way everything is set up, production will take place based on what season it is. Being that this is summer, only certain scenes were shot. But production is set to start again at some point in October, when the fall season is in full effect.

While it lasted for a few days, I had the chance to work in multiple departments for a little bit. I helped the grip department in setting up stands and moving equipment. I helped in setting up the jib that was used for one scene.  I also helped with picking up and returning furniture for the art department. The most important thing however was the fact that the got the chance to meet and work with new people. That’s one of the main advantages of working on a small crew. You get to know everyone better and it feels like you’re part of a second family.

So I just wanted to talk a little bit about this film. There’s no need to go into further detail of what happened as BTS footage from the shoot will be shown at a later time. So if you want to learn more about Persephone, you can follow the links that I will post below.
